Jalapeño Ranch Dipping Sauce

Hi,

Today is the second episode of my new lifestyle cooking show Lifestyle Of A Foodie on Tasteontv.com. Today I’ll be making turkey burgers and I made a jalapeño ranch dipping sauce. It taste so good and so spicy 🌶 I don’t normally eat ranch but I promise you’ll enjoy it.

You can eat it on your burgers, raw veggies and hot wings.

Ingredients

  1. I cup of ranch salad dressing
  1. I dozen chopped jalapeños
  1. Tablespoon of chopped green onion give or take a few. It all depends on your preference.

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and serve. I like to let mine chill because I like the cool contrast from the dipping sauce and my hot turkey burger.

Strawberry Shortcake Remix

Hey,

It’s been raining all day today in fact it’s rained all summer. I decided to make me a sweet treat and cozy up in my bed.

I remixed my favorite dessert Strawberry Shortcake! It was truly what I needed on a day like today!

Strawberry Shortcake remix!

Ingredients:

Glazed Donuts

Cool Whip

Strawberries 🍓

Foil

Spatula

Ice cream scooper

Knife

Air fryer

Plate

Chopping board

Directions:

Line air fryer with foil. Place donut in air fryer over foil. Cook between 3-5 minutes at 350. No need no turn over…just check in after a minute or two. No two donuts are the same so it comes down to your preference and I prefer crispy!

While the donut is the Air fryer cut the stems off of the strawberries and cut them in half.

Follow this example for cutting your strawberries 🍓

Remove donut with a spatula and place on to plate. Top with a scoop of cool whip and fresh strawberries 🍓 Remember this is the remix so you can top it with peaches, blueberries, raspberries whatever your heart desires!

Simple Vegan Tacos Recipe From My “Veganish” Kitchen

 My Veganish Journey

Veganish! Yep, that’s what I call myself. I spent many years of my life researching alternative diets and It was so overwhelming that it kept me from just being healthy. One day, a coworker told me he was vegan. I have a vegan friend but I wasn’t familiar with their meals. I consider myself a food connoisseur so I’m no stranger to the kitchen but I didn’t know where to begin. My first question to him was, “What do you eat??”

He actually took the time to write out meal ideas for each meal. Some were appealing, others not so much. Because the thing is, there’s no meat or meat byproducts so I would have to re-learn my whole life’s eating choices. Let’s face it, most of us grew up preparing our meals around a meat! “I want chicken for dinner.” Pick a vegetable and a starch and you have a meal! But what does one do when meat isn’t the center of your meal?

Meatless Monday

I started slow. Meatless Monday; breakfast was easy, oatmeal with chopped fruit and granola or dairy-free yogurt with fruit and nuts. For lunch I would eat a steam bag of veggies. For dinner I would make pasta dishes or soups. After awhile I would eat a meatless or vegan meal for lunch on days other than Monday. Six months later I realized that the only time I ate meat was at dinner. It was astonishing to me! I began removing meat from dinner and changed my thoughts to meat sometimes (I have commitment issues😁).

Soon I started trying out new recipes. I would think of what I would normally make and then attempt to veganize it. Now, I feel amazing! I lost weight, I rarely eat meat, and I advocate for meat reduction; EAT meat on the WEEKEND and maintain a Veganish lifestyle. Because for those of us out there struggling with every saucy or Worcester sauce (because it’s not vegan) detail, there are some very judgey (I know it’s not a word) vegans that will push you off the wagon because you meat (LOL, a little jokey joke, in my Martin Lawrence voice)or don’t meet their standards.

My son enjoying meatless Monday!

Vegan Snacks

So here it is, one thing that has helped me transition is recreating some of my favorite junk foods. I have made Copycat Popeye’s, by frying cauliflower, double dipped in a spicy batter, makes my mouth water as I type. I’ve done a vegan Jucy Lucy, cheeze stuffed beefless burger. And today I have Copycat Jack in the Box Vegan Crispy Tacos. Oh my goodness, these hot crispy, crunchy tacos were everything I wanted them to be and oh so craveable. Check out the video. And for a little inspiration for those straddling the fence, don’t worry about being perfect at least you are actively trying to eat better. Don’t give up because someone discourages you, because I guarantee, people are more concerned about you only eating vegetables then they will ever be if you only ate McDonald’s! Many blessings on your vegan or veganish journey.

Start Small & Start From Home

Hi,

Calling all visionaries, entrepreneurs and inspiring entrepreneurs now is the time to pursue your dreams and walk in your true purpose. We have more down time than before so here’s the “sign” you’ve been waiting for!

There’s a lot of uncertainty when you’re starting a new business and over the years, I’ve attempted to do it all. I’ve tried catering, I made jewelry, and sled published a book the list goes on and on. I’m a single parent and to have to work full time!

I set weekly and monthly goals and every day I work towards them. Some days it’s a struggle to push myself because it can be discouraging and exhausting but if I don’t do it who will? You can’t wait around for someone to “discover” you the Bible says Faith without works is dead James 2 ( I’m paraphrasing) and the world says no pain not gain & no risk no reward! You get the point!

Some days I brainstorm ideas or research other successful businesses. In the past I didn’t have the resources to take any of my ideas to the next level.  Although, catering and jewelry design are businesses that you can run out of your home, they can also be costly when your sales are inconsistent!

Here it is… my one useful business tip: FOCUS! I wished that someone would’ve told me to focus on one type of jewelry piece, such as; bracelets. You can make different variations of bracelets without ever making the same piece twice. I can not stress the importance of sticking to one type of jewelry in the beginning, it keeps the cost and the pressure down. Regardless, of what people tell you. They’ll have you spending money, designing and taking time from your family but they’re not buying.  Now, there are always exceptions to the rule: if you have a special order, a wedding event for example, make sure you secure a deposit before purchasing additional supplies. Over time add necklaces, rings etc. Set a goal of how much money and time you can invest.

In the case of my failed attempt at catering, I’ve learned to start with something you specialize in such as sandwiches or desserts.  Again, focus on your specialty and then build your menu. You can hold tasting parties, to gage what people prefer and that’s a good way to network and market your business.

Remember, Tracie from Pretty’ N Lashed? Tracie has started her business right from home, where she can still manage her household and has no overhead expenses. Her supplies will last for months at a time. She doesn’t have much to maintain and she’s profiting! Look at the video below to check out Tracie’s in home work station.
